Patna: Bihar BJP state president Dr. Dilip Jaiswal, addressing a programme organised by the BJP Mahila Morcha on International Women’s Day, emphasised the pivotal role of women in shaping society and politics. Speaking at the Atal Auditorium in the BJP state office, he extended his wishes to all and acknowledged the significance of March 8 as a day to celebrate women’s aspirations and achievements.
Dr. Jaiswal underscored the importance of increasing women’s participation in governance and political organisations. “Women are both Narayani and Ranachandi,” he said, adding that whenever given opportunities, they have excelled across various fields. He assured those present that the government and the BJP would work towards greater female representation, starting with roles in the Rogi Kalyan Samiti and the 20-point programme committees.
He credited Prime Minister Narendra Modi for introducing women’s reservation in politics and acknowledged Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar’s efforts in increasing female participation in the administration.
Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary described International Women’s Day as a moment of pride, noting that the Modi government had taken historic steps to empower women. Taking a swipe at opposition parties, he remarked: “Many talk about their dreams, their father’s or husband’s dreams, but it was Narendra Modi’s government that turned the dream of 33% women’s reservation into reality.”
Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Sinha echoed the sentiment, calling Bihar the land of ‘Matri Shakti’ and stressing that full empowerment could only be achieved when women took leadership roles. “Respect for women and their upliftment is our priority, and this is what differentiates the BJP from other parties,” he said. He highlighted initiatives such as the Nari Shakti Vandan Act, Drone Didi Yojana, and Ujjwala Yojana, which aim to empower women economically and socially.
The event was conducted by BJP Mahila Morcha president and MP Dharmshila Gupta, with ministers Mangal Pandey and Nitish Mishra also addressing the gathering.
