Patna: Environment, Forest and Climate Change Minister Dr Sunil Kumar on Monday flagged off an educational tour for “Zoo Ambassadors,” a programme aimed at promoting ecotourism and raising awareness about environmental conservation in Bihar. The two-day tour will take participants to key ecotourism sites in the Kaimur and Rohtas districts, where they will explore various aspects of nature conservation and sustainable tourism.
The initiative is being jointly organised by the Department of Environment, Forest and Climate Change and Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL). Speaking at the flagging-off ceremony, Kumar emphasised that the trip would not only be an educational experience for children but also help showcase Bihar’s ecotourism potential. “There is no need to travel outside Bihar for tourism, as our state is making rapid strides in this sector,” he said.
As part of the initiative, participants will document and share their experiences on social media to amplify awareness about Bihar’s growing ecotourism destinations. The programme aims to highlight the state’s natural beauty and encourage greater engagement with conservation efforts.
Senior officials present at the event included Principal Chief Conservator of Forests PK Gupta, Additional Principal Chief Conservator Arvinder Singh, Director of Ecology and Environment Abhay Kumar, Forest Conservator (Wildlife Zone, Patna) Satyajit Kumar, and BPCL’s Bihar-Jharkhand HR Manager Nitesh Bharti.
