Seminar on Digital Learning and Career Opportunities Held at Bihar Agricultural University

Sabour: A seminar titled “From Clicks to Career: Using Digital Learning and E-Mentoring for Success” was organized at Bihar Agricultural University (BAU) Sabour, highlighting the role of digital education in agriculture and allied sectors. The event focused on platforms like NPTEL and SWAYAM, guiding participants on skill development, career growth, and entrepreneurship. Faculty members, scientists, and students discussed the importance of continuous learning and digital empowerment in modern agriculture.

Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture, A.K. Sah, emphasized the growing digital landscape in India, citing that over 14,750 courses are available on SWAYAM, with more than 5.1 crore enrollments. NPTEL alone offers 35 specialized courses in agriculture. The university has also completed seven CAFT programs, training over 200 faculty members in ICT and AI. Vice Chancellor D.R. Singh highlighted BAU Sabour’s various digital initiatives, including a YouTube channel, a community radio station, and a Kisan Helpline, benefiting thousands of farmers. Under the SABAGRI scheme, 134 agri-entrepreneurs have been supported, with 71 currently employed and receiving up to Rs. 25 lakh in funding.

Experts from IIT Kharagpur, including Lennis Thomas and Sanchari Bose, provided insights into online learning platforms and their enrollment process. Discussions also covered emerging career opportunities in drone technology, precision agriculture, agribusiness, and MSME sectors. Technoground Pvt. Ltd. CEO Roshan Kumar shared his journey of leaving a multinational company to pursue drone technology in agriculture, while entrepreneurship advisor O.P. Singh discussed strategies for sustainable agribusiness. Ujjwal Kumar from E&G Pathways spoke on employment and research prospects in agriculture and allied fields.

With over 120 offline and 125 online participants, the seminar proved valuable for faculty members and students, particularly those preparing for competitive exams like GATE. Key university officials and industry experts shared their perspectives on digital learning, innovation, and career opportunities in agriculture. The event concluded with a vote of thanks by Avinash, marking a step forward in integrating digital learning with career development in Bihar’s agricultural sector.
