Fisheries Director Urges Completion of Construction Works Before Monsoon in Bihar

Bihar’s Fisheries Director has urged officials to complete all construction works by April-end to avoid monsoon delays and ensure timely implementation of key schemes.

Completion of Construction Works

Patna: In a bid to accelerate the pace of implementation and avoid seasonal delays, Abhishek Ranjan, Director of the Fisheries Directorate under Bihar’s Animal and Fisheries Resources Department, has directed officials to complete all ongoing construction works ahead of the monsoon.

The instruction came during a review meeting held on Monday, where district-level officers from Khagaria, Saharsa, Buxar, Aurangabad, Gopalganj, and Banka gathered to assess the progress of state and centrally sponsored schemes in the fisheries sector.

During the meeting, Director Ranjan underscored the urgency of completing physical infrastructure tied to projects from financial years 2022–23, 2023–24, and 2024–25 by the end of April. With the monsoon season fast approaching, officials were told that any delays could derail critical components of the department’s developmental roadmap.

A significant portion of the discussion focused on the application process through the Management Information System (MIS) portal. Ranjan instructed that applications be thoroughly vetted by Fisheries Extension Officers (FEOs) and Fisheries Development Officers (FDOs) before being forwarded to District Fisheries Officers (DFOs) for final action. In cases where applications are automatically forwarded by the system, the responsibility will rest directly with the FEOs and FDOs.

The director’s firm message reflects the department’s commitment to ensuring efficient delivery of schemes intended to bolster livelihoods and infrastructure in the fisheries sector, especially in districts where aquaculture plays a vital economic role.
