Patna: Patna Women’s College (Autonomous), Patna University, celebrated Founder’s Day on August 20 with a programme highlighting the institution’s legacy, heritage and founding vision.
The event was attended by Archbishop Father Sebastian Kallupura, Dr Sister M. Reema A.C., Provincial Superior, Apostolic Carmel, Northern Province; Sister Kirti A.C., Councillor for Education, Apostolic Carmel, Northern Province; Dr Sister M. Jincy A.C., Superior, Avila Convent; Principal Dr Sister M. Tanisha A.C.; and Vice Principal Dr Sister Celine Crasta A.C.

Celebration Begins with Lighting of the Lamp
The programme commenced with the Lighting of the Lamp, symbolising knowledge and the spirit of the Founder’s vision.
Father Sebastian Kallupura was felicitated with a plant sapling by Principal Dr Sister M. Tanisha A.C. The other distinguished dignitaries were also felicitated during the programme.
A Maalyarpann ceremony was subsequently held as a tribute to the founder of Patna Women’s College, Bishop Joseph Sullivan S.J.

Cultural Performances Highlight Heritage
The cultural segment began with the prayer dance “Arpan Prabhu Tujhe”, followed by the welcome song “Swagatam”.
The programme then featured the Rajasthani folk dance “Banna Re”, showcasing traditional cultural expressions.
A thematic dance titled “Virasat” followed, portraying the rich heritage, legacy and founding vision of Patna Women’s College.
The cultural presentations concluded with a vibrant Grand Finale.

Archbishop Inspires Students
Addressing the gathering, Archbishop Father Sebastian Kallupura highlighted the importance of consistent efforts and meaningful contributions.
He encouraged the gathering with the message: “It does not matter how slowly you go, small but meaningful commitments make a lasting difference.”
The Principal also addressed the gathering and expressed her gratitude for being part of the institution and its continuing legacy.
Students and Faculty Coordinate Programme
The event was moderated by Vagisha Variyar, Joint Environment and Discipline Secretary, Student Council 2026–27, and Kumari Vaishnawi, a Semester I student from the Department of Zoology.
Aliba Nadeem, Joint General Secretary, Student Council 2026–27, delivered the Vote of Thanks.
The programme was coordinated by Dr Sister Celine Crasta A.C., Vice Principal and Head, Department of History; Ms Enakshi Dey Biswas, Coordinator, Performing Arts; and Ms Puja Kumari, Assistant Professor, Department of Commerce.
Their coordination ensured the smooth conduct of the Founder’s Day celebrations, which brought together the college community to commemorate its legacy, vision and enduring institutional values.
