Patna: Senior BJP leader and Member of Parliament Anurag Thakur, currently touring Bihar, has launched a scathing attack on the Congress, asserting that the party holds neither influence nor future in the state’s political landscape. Addressing journalists in Patna, the former Union Minister claimed that Bihar’s next five years will be pivotal for development and reiterated the BJP’s confidence in the strength of the NDA alliance.
Thakur, responding to the rising frequency of visits by top Congress leaders to Bihar in the run-up to the general elections, dismissed the party’s prospects. “What does Congress have in Bihar?” he asked. “There is no leader, no policy, and even their intentions are flawed. Whenever Congress has supported a government here, jungle raj has followed.”
Accusing the Congress of contributing to lawlessness and stagnation in the state, Thakur maintained that the people of Bihar have consistently voted for progress—something he believes has been delivered under the BJP-JD(U) partnership. “The coalition government of JDU and BJP has consistently delivered on development, attracting investments worth thousands of crores and expanding infrastructure in key sectors like roads and railways,” he said.
The BJP MP added that both the central and state governments have worked in tandem to elevate Bihar’s status, and he predicted a continued trajectory of growth should the NDA retain power in the state.
Thakur also commented on Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s upcoming visit to Bihar, saying it reflects the PM’s “deep connection” with the state. “PM Modi will be unveiling schemes worth crores during his visit,” he said, citing the international promotion of Bihar’s Makhana crop as a key example of targeted development under the Modi government.
In a pointed critique aimed at the Congress, Thakur accused the party of historical mistreatment of Dr Bhimrao Ambedkar. “I am here to attend a programme on Constitution Day in honour of Baba Saheb Ambedkar. The Congress has continuously harassed him,” he said. Referring to changes in NCERT textbooks, Thakur demanded an apology from the Congress to the Dalit and Mahadalit communities for what he termed as systematic neglect and misrepresentation of Ambedkar’s legacy.
