Urban Development Ministers Inspect Key Drainage Projects In Patna Ahead Of Monsoon

Patna: Urban Development Minister Jibesh Kumar and Road Construction Minister Nitin Nabin conducted a joint inspection of the Bakarganj and Mandiri Nala projects in Patna on Tuesday, aiming to accelerate drainage improvements ahead of the monsoon.

The ministers visited critical sites along the two major stormwater drains, which are undergoing extensive renovation. These projects are expected to bring relief to residents in several densely populated wards that face chronic waterlogging during the rainy season.

At Bakarganj Nala, the ministers assessed progress near Udyog Bhawan and Uma Cinema. The drain passes through wards 28, 36, 37, 38 and 39, and is expected to benefit lakhs of residents once completed. Officials said the long-standing drainage issues in the area will be resolved after completion.

The inspection of Mandiri Nala focused on areas near Kathpul and Bans Ghat DPS. The 1,289-metre stretch, originating from near Income Tax Golambar, is under active redevelopment, including road construction atop the drain. The project covers wards 21, 24, 25, 26 and 27. Once completed, it is expected to improve traffic flow and provide direct connectivity between Bailey Road and Ashok Rajpath.

Both ministers directed officials to ensure quality control and timely completion of work, especially before the onset of the monsoon. They stressed the need for continuous on-site monitoring to avoid delays.

Patna Municipal Commissioner Animesh Kumar Parashar, Smart City officials, ward councillors and engineers from relevant departments accompanied the ministers during the site visits.
