Patna: Security was tightened and four flights cancelled at Patna Airport on Wednesday, following the Indian Army’s reported cross-border strike dubbed ‘Operation Sindoor’, carried out in response to the recent Pahalgam terror attack. The operation, which allegedly involved troops entering Pakistani territory, has sparked nationwide reactions and drawn global attention.
As news of the operation spread, an atmosphere of celebration erupted in several parts of India. Meanwhile, heightened security concerns led to significant disruptions at Patna Airport. Four flights—two arrivals and two departures—were cancelled, and the airport was placed on high alert.
Among the affected flights was Indigo flight 6E 6485 from Bhubaneswar, which was scheduled to arrive at 1:25pm, and Indigo flight 6E 6394 from Chandigarh, due at 9:15am. On the departure side, Indigo flight 6E 6394 to Bhubaneswar (9:55am) and Air India Express flight IX 1591 to Ghaziabad (11:55am) were both cancelled.
In response to the alert, security has been significantly ramped up at Patna Airport. A dog squad has been deployed and all passengers and personnel are under close surveillance. Authorities have not confirmed whether more flights could be affected.
Though the Indian government has yet to officially confirm details of Operation Sindoor, sources suggest the operation targeted militant infrastructure across the border in retaliation for the deaths of Indian soldiers in Jammu and Kashmir’s Pahalgam region earlier this week.
