Patna: With intense heatwave conditions gripping Bihar, the Education Department has confirmed that government and aided schools across the state will remain closed for summer vacation from June 2-21, 2025. This scheduled 20-day break aligns with the academic calendar released earlier in the year.
However, the summer holidays will not be a complete break for all. The department has announced special mathematics summer camps for students of Classes 5 and 6. These sessions, aimed at students who are underperforming in the subject, will run from May 21 to June 20, overlapping with the vacation period.
The announcement has sparked discontent among teachers, many of whom argue that the camps effectively nullify their vacation. “If we are expected to teach during holidays, what sort of vacation is it?” questioned a primary school teacher in Patna.
