Patna: A major infrastructure development is underway near Danapur station with the construction of a 1,350-meter-long double-decker bridge designed to facilitate easy access to the Bihta elevated corridor. The bridge will feature two ramps enabling smooth ascent and descent to and from the elevated roadway connecting Danapur and Bihta.
Officials involved in the project confirmed that pillar construction has begun along the road stretching from Danapur station to Saguna Mor. This is part of the larger 23.5-kilometer elevated corridor being built between Danapur and Bihta, which aims to improve regional connectivity and reduce traffic congestion.
The design includes two ramps on the Patna side, allowing commuters to access the elevated corridor conveniently. The second floor of the new double-decker bridge will serve traffic moving from Saguna Mor towards Bihta, while the lower level will accommodate vehicles traveling between Danapur station and Saguna Mor, maintaining regular traffic flow underneath the elevated roadway.
Additionally, the existing railway overbridge (ROB) near Jagjivan Ram Stadium will continue to serve traffic moving from Digha to Danapur station. A new ramp adjacent to the stadium will connect to this ROB, providing improved access from Danapur station to Digha.
The project promises to significantly ease traffic congestion around Danapur station, a known bottleneck area. Drivers will still be able to use the existing ROB to travel between Danapur station and Khagaul, preserving current routes while adding new options.
Ramps will also be constructed near Neura, allowing vehicles to access the elevated corridor at multiple points. The elevated structure will descend to road level near Kanhauli before rising again after crossing Bihta airport, where it will ultimately end just beyond Bihta. The corridor includes a 19.58-kilometer four-lane elevated bridge and a 3.92-kilometer four-lane road at ground level.
Further infrastructure enhancements include a 600-meter tunnel and bridge near Kanhauli to directly link the Bihta airport with the elevated corridor, enabling seamless travel between Patna and the airport.
