Patna: Bihar’s Road Construction Minister, Nitin Nabin, chaired a high-level meeting on Thursday to review the progress of several key infrastructure projects, with an emphasis on expediting Detailed Project Reports (DPRs) for upcoming road works.
The meeting, held at the department’s conference hall, was attended by Road Construction Department Secretary Kartikeya Dhanji, along with officials from the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH) and the National Highways Authority.
Minister Nabin stated that the primary aim of the meeting was to assess the status of ongoing and proposed projects and to streamline the DPR preparation process. Projects such as the Patna–Gaya–Dobhi Road, Aurangabad–Daudnagar four-lane bypass, and the Anisabad–AIIMS stretch were among the major initiatives discussed.
Following the meeting, Nabin announced that alignment work for road projects worth over Rs 30,000 crore has been completed. “DPRs for these projects are currently being prepared, and several of them will soon move to the implementation stage,” he said. He added that all contractors have been strictly instructed to maintain quality and complete works within stipulated timelines.
The minister also issued specific directives to accelerate the completion of the Anisabad–AIIMS stretch. “Construction of a six-lane elevated road from Anisabad Junction to Patna AIIMS is set to begin soon. This will significantly ease congestion for Patna residents and improve connectivity for commuters travelling between Patna and Gaya,” he said.
The fully operational Patna–Gaya–Dobhi four-lane highway has already started benefiting commuters, reducing travel time between Patna and Gaya to just 90 minutes. The highway, built at a cost of Rs 1,910.08 crore, includes five rail overbridges (ROBs), 20 underpasses, four flyovers, and eight bypasses. It was completed in three phases: the first covering km 0 to km 39, the second from km 39 to km 83, and the third from km 83 to km 127.
Nabin emphasised the government’s commitment to improving road connectivity across Bihar. “The Bihar government is working tirelessly to create a robust, modern, and inclusive road network. Development in the state is set to accelerate further,” he added.
