Patna: A state-wide training and capacity-building programme for MGNREGA (Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act) workers was launched in Bihar on Thursday. The initiative, jointly organised by the Bihar Rural Development Society (BRDS) and BIPARD (Bihar Institute of Public Administration and Rural Development), will run until 23 June and aims to train 2,527 Panchayat Rozgar Sevaks (village employment assistants).
The participants have been divided into eight batches, each undergoing a week-long training. In the first phase, 225 workers from the districts of Araria, Arwal, Banka, Begusarai, Kaimur, and Bhagalpur will receive training.
The programme covers key aspects such as an overview of MGNREGA and recent guidelines, Aadhaar-based payment systems, the National Mobile Monitoring System (NMMS), Geo MGNREGA, Jan MGNREGA, and human resource management systems. Sessions will also focus on governance-related topics to improve service delivery and transparency.
Notably, MGNREGA Commissioner Abhilasha Kumari Sharma is expected to deliver a lecture during the programme. The training is designed to enhance both technical and policy knowledge among rural employment officers and ensure effective implementation of the MGNREGA scheme at the grassroots level.
