Patna: A vibrant cultural evening titled Sangam was organised at the Dashrath Manjhi Labor Employment Study Institute by District Art and Culture Officers currently undergoing training with the Department of Art, Culture and Youth, Government of Bihar.
The event served as a platform to celebrate the confluence of art, culture, colleagueship, shared memories, values, cooperation and dedication — themes that were brought to life through a series of engaging performances.
Anchored by Kirti Alok (Patna) and Ankit Ranjan (Bhagalpur), the evening began with the ceremonial lighting of lamps by Ruby, Director of the Directorate of Cultural Affairs; Anil Kumar Sinha, Secretary of the Bihar Sangeet Natak Academy; and Ajay Kumar Singh, Public Relations Officer of the Department.
Shalini Prakash (Nalanda) opened the stage performances with a classical dance on Shiv Stuti. This was followed by a soulful folk song from Sunaina Kumari (Arwal), a poetry recital by Nitish Kumar (Madhubani) that received resounding applause, and a light music performance by Ghanshyam Kumar (Khagaria). Richa Verma (Siwan) concluded the performances with a classical vocal recital that was widely appreciated.
Addressing the gathering, Ruby commended the young officers, expressing her confidence in their potential to bring about meaningful cultural transformation in the state. “Seeing the talent among you, I am certain that your work will contribute to positive change in the future,” she said.
The programme concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Pankaj Kumar (Sasaram), followed by the national anthem, bringing the evening to a close with a spirit of unity and celebration.
