Muzaffarpur/ Patna: The highly anticipated “Shahi” litchi from Muzaffarpur, renowned for its exquisite taste and quality, is once again set to grace the tables of top dignitaries, including the President and Prime Minister of India. Annually, approximately four tons of this premium fruit are dispatched from the district.
This year, the special consignment faced a slight delay of about a week due to unfavorable weather conditions. However, preparations are now in full swing. The litchis are meticulously packed into 2 kg packets, with a total of 2,000 such packets being prepared for dispatch.
The shipment is scheduled to depart in an air-conditioned van on May 31, aiming to reach Bihar Bhavan in Delhi by the night of June 1. From there, on June 2, these delectable litchis will be delivered to the President, Prime Minister, various Union ministers, and other prominent dignitaries.
The entire process of packing and dispatch is overseen by the district administration, with officials typically flagging off the special van, highlighting the significance of this annual tradition.
