Chhapra/Patna: In a swift and decisive action late Thursday night, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Dr. Kumar Ashish led a raid on TOP-1 (Town Out Post/Gantak Colony) within the Bhagwan Bazar police station area of Chhapra city, apprehending several individuals, including police personnel, allegedly participating in a liquor party.
Police sources revealed that the gathering included Sub Inspector Shyam Bihari Pandey, in-charge of TOP-1, another policeman, a Home Guard jawan, and local residents. The raid was prompted by a video sent to SSP Dr. Kumar Ashish via WhatsApp by a local youth, reportedly showing the illicit party in progress.
Upon receiving the evidence, Dr. Ashish immediately mobilized, raiding the outpost alongside Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) Dr. Raj Kishore Singh. During the raid, all five individuals present were caught in the act of consuming alcohol. A subsequent breath analyzer test confirmed their intoxication, leading to their immediate arrest and subsequent transfer to judicial custody.
The incident has sent shockwaves through the local police department, particularly given the outpost’s proximity to the DIG’s residence. Adding to the gravity of the situation, the same TOP area was the scene of a broad daylight stabbing just two days prior, on May 28.
