BAU Sabour Connects with Over 68,000 Farmers in Four-Day Agricultural Campaign

Sabour: Bihar Agricultural University (BAU), Sabour has set a new benchmark in agricultural outreach through its Developed Agriculture Sankalp Abhiyan, directly engaging with 68,009 farmers across 692 villages in just four days.

The campaign, held from May 29 to June 1 under the guidance of the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR), covered 21 districts through 211 team visits and 627 site events. The university mobilised 1,818 personnel, including 381 Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) scientists, 170 ICAR and BAU scientists, 729 progressive farmers, and 1,908 agriculture officers and technical experts at the district and block levels.

According to the official figures, 48,727 male and 19,230 female farmers benefited from the drive, which focused on raising awareness around balanced fertiliser use, modern crop varieties, pest control, water conservation, crop diversification, and mechanisation.

Farmers also received detailed information on key government schemes such as PM-Kisan, the Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchai Yojana, crop insurance programmes, and agricultural mechanisation support. Feedback was collected directly from the farmers to inform future policy and research, with all activities monitored and recorded digitally.

Speaking on the success of the campaign, BAU Sabour vice chancellor D R Singh said:
“The Vikasit Krishi Sankalp Abhiyan is more than a training initiative – it is a rural development movement rooted in scientific awareness. Directly engaging with over 68,000 farmers in four days reflects the strong coordination among our scientists, technical staff and local administration. This is a testament to the commitment and team spirit of the university.”
