Patna: Faizal Khan — widely known as Khan Sir, the hugely popular YouTube educator renowned for his relatable teaching style — hosted a grand wedding reception in Patna on Monday evening, drawing a large gathering of political figures, educators, and fans. The event marked the public celebration of his marriage, which had remained largely private until recently.

The reception was held at a banquet hall near Saguna Mor, transformed for the occasion with floral décor and festive lighting. Bihar Governor Arif Mohammad Khan graced the event to bless the newlyweds, while Education Minister Sunil Kumar and ministers Sumit Singh and Leader of Opposition Tejashwi Prasad Yadav were also in attendance.

Khan Sir, in a rare public appearance with his bride, walked hand in hand to the stage. His wife, wearing a traditional red lehenga, was warmly received by the crowd. A video clip from the event showing the couple together quickly circulated on social media, garnering affectionate messages from his followers.

The evening was not just about dignitaries. Popular educators including Physics Wallah’s Alakh Pandey, Himanshi Singh, and SK Jha were also spotted at the event, signalling camaraderie in India’s growing online education space. Adding a musical touch, the celebrated Sabri Brothers performed at the reception, enhancing the cultural ambience of the evening.

Guests were treated to an elaborate culinary spread of more than 245 dishes spanning both vegetarian and non-vegetarian fare, along with local favourites like golgappas in the starters.

In keeping with his commitment to students, Khan Sir has planned separate celebratory banquets for them. The first, scheduled for June 6, will cater exclusively to female students to avoid overcrowding. Another banquet for male students is expected to follow. These events reflect Khan Sir’s enduring connection to the learners who form the backbone of his online platform.

Earlier this week, during a live online class, Khan Sir humorously revealed his marriage to students, saying, “You are the closest to me; my existence is because of you, so I’m telling you first.” He added — perhaps playfully — that he married during the Indo-Pakistani war, sparking a wave of excitement and congratulations online.

While the reception confirmed the occasion, Khan Sir has kept many details private. According to sources, his wife’s name is believed to be ‘A S Khan’, though neither her full name nor Khan Sir’s real name were disclosed on the reception card, which was notably simple and discreet.

Known for his modesty and accessibility, Khan Sir’s understated approach to his personal milestones has only reinforced the admiration of his millions of followers — many of whom see him not just as a teacher, but a mentor who remains grounded despite his fame.
