Aurangabad: A 29-year-old microfinance worker was killed on Tuesday morning after being hit by a speeding pickup truck near the Punpun river bridge in Kharanti, Aurangabad, Bihar. The victim, Saroj Sao, was a resident of Lala Atmi village in Rohtas district and was on his way to Palamu, Jharkhand, for work.

The collision occurred when the loaded truck struck Saroj, killing him on the spot. His identity was confirmed by police through documents recovered from his pocket.

Saroj, the youngest of two brothers, is survived by his wife, Khushboo Kumari, whom he married in 2021, and their two children — Ayush, aged 2, and Aditya, just 5 months old. The loss has devastated his family, who are now preparing for his last rites.

In a tragic turn of events, Saroj’s brother-in-law and others travelling to Aurangabad Sadar Hospital after the accident were also injured in a separate road mishap, compounding the family’s distress.

The driver of the pickup truck fled the scene. Police have seized the vehicle and launched a search for the absconding driver. Station House Officer Nitish Kumar confirmed that the body was handed over to Saroj’s family after post-mortem procedures.

As the investigation continues, the grieving family is left to cope with the sudden loss of a husband, father, and brother.
