Patna: In a significant relief for educators across the state, the Bihar Education Department has announced that teachers in government schools will not be assigned any work during their summer vacation. This directive, aimed at allowing teachers a complete break, was issued by Additional Chief Secretary (ACS) S. Siddharth.
The summer vacation for approximately 81,000 government schools in Bihar commenced on June 2 and will run until June 20. ACS S. Siddharth has directed all District Education Officers (DEOs) to ensure that teachers are not called for any duties during this period.
Focus on Rest, Exception for Leadership and Staff
Historically, teachers in Bihar have often been assigned various departmental tasks even during their summer breaks. This new order marks a departure from that practice, allowing them to fully utilize their time off for rest and personal activities.
While teachers are exempt from work, headmasters, in-charge headmasters, and non-teaching staff are still required to be present at the schools. This ensures that administrative functions and essential school operations can continue smoothly.
Summer Camps for Students
During the summer vacation period, the Education Department is also facilitating educational activities for students. Mathematical summer camps are being organized for children of classes 5th and 6th, with the support of a voluntary organization. This initiative aims to keep students engaged in learning while their teachers enjoy a well-deserved break.
