Patna: In a bid to tackle the recurring issue of urban waterlogging ahead of the monsoon season, Bihar’s Urban Development and Housing Minister, Jibesh Kumar, has called for the expedited completion of critical infrastructure projects under the Bihar Urban Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited (BUDCO). During a high-level review meeting convened to assess the progress of various urban infrastructure schemes, the Minister instructed that all ongoing projects be completed within their stipulated timelines. Special emphasis was placed on schemes that have crossed 80% completion, which, he insisted, must be wrapped up by the end of the month.
With the monsoon looming, Kumar underscored the urgency of addressing areas vulnerable to waterlogging. “Projects aimed at mitigating the risk of flooding during the rainy season must be treated as a priority,” he said, pressing officials for swift execution. Animesh Kumar Parashar, Managing Director of BUDCO, provided a comprehensive update on the status of the corporation’s initiatives. The Minister also directed that pending dues to implementing agencies be cleared promptly upon the release of departmental funds. Senior BUDCO officials were present at the meeting, which comes as part of a broader effort to bolster Bihar’s urban resilience and public infrastructure.
