Patna: A high-level review meeting of the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH) was held in Patna on Monday, chaired by Bihar’s Road Construction Minister Nitin Nabin, to assess the status of ongoing road projects and the progress of detailed project reports (DPRs) under consideration by the central government.
During the meeting, the minister directed officials to prioritise measures to ease traffic congestion near the Mahatma Gandhi Setu, specifically between BSNL Chowk and Pahari. “A joint meeting of MoRTH and NHAI officials should be convened at the earliest to find a comprehensive and standard-compliant solution,” he said.
As part of efforts to streamline traffic flow, Nabin also announced the installation of an advanced traffic monitoring system to ensure real-time oversight and improved traffic management in the affected area.
Addressing the broader agenda of infrastructure development, Nabin instructed officials to expedite work on road alignments and to finalise pending DPRs, many of which he said are nearing completion. “People will soon see these schemes materialise on the ground,” he added, urging contractors to complete construction work within deadlines and with strict adherence to quality standards.
Highlighting the government’s commitment, the minister said: “The Bihar government is working tirelessly to build a modern, inclusive and robust road network. The pace of development will only accelerate from here.”
The meeting was attended by senior officials including B. Kartikey Dhanji, Secretary of the Road Construction Department; Vishnu Murthy, Regional Officer of MoRTH; Sunil Kumar, Chief Engineer; Jitendra Kumar, MD of Bihar Rajya Pul Nirman Nigam Limited; and Umakant Rajak and Umashankar Prasad, Chief Engineers of National Highways (South and North, respectively).
