Bhagalpur: At least 30 passengers were injured when two buses collided head-on near Vikramshila Setu in Bhagalpur’s Parbatta police station area on Wednesday, in what officials say was an overtaking attempt gone wrong.

The injured, many of whom suffered cuts and bruises, were rushed to Navgachiya Sub-Divisional Hospital. Authorities have confirmed that all are currently out of danger.

According to eyewitnesses, one bus was travelling from Katihar to Bhagalpur, while the other was en route from Bhagalpur to Araria. The collision, which occurred during a risky overtaking manoeuvre, left the front sections of both vehicles mangled and caused panic among passengers. Locals rushed to the scene, pulling the injured from the wreckage before ambulances arrived.

Parbatta police station in-charge Shambhu Paswan said officers arrived promptly and seized both vehicles. “The injured are receiving treatment, and the incident is under investigation,” he said.
