Tejashwi Yadav defended his elder brother Tej Pratap’s viral photos by calling them a personal matter, adding that questioning PM Narendra Modi’s own family choices would be equally inappropriate.

Patna: Amid growing social media scrutiny over viral photos of Tej Pratap Yadav with a woman named Anushka Yadav, Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader Tejashwi Yadav has dismissed the controversy as a personal issue. In response to questions regarding the matter, he reminded reporters that Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s personal life, particularly his estranged relationship with his wife Yashodaben, has also been a topic of public curiosity and should similarly be kept out of political discourse.

“What happened on social media about Tej Pratap is his personal matter. Just like it would not look good to ask why Yashodaben doesn’t live with the Prime Minister, we should refrain from commenting on anyone’s personal life,” said Tejashwi, speaking from Patna on June 22.

The controversy began last month when Tej Pratap posted a photo with Anushka Yadav, claiming a 12-year-long relationship. Although the post was quickly deleted and later blamed on a hacked account, it reignited public debates about his personal affairs and past marriage to Aishwarya Rai. The situation escalated when his father and RJD supremo Lalu Prasad Yadav expelled Tej Pratap from both the party and the family, reportedly due to the incident.

Tejashwi said that the ongoing discussion would neither help Bihar nor the nation, and urged people to respect individual privacy. He also backed his father’s decision to remove Tej Pratap from the party, suggesting it was necessary for discipline within the organisation.
