Patna: A man posing as a police sub-inspector was arrested in Patna on Tuesday after authorities discovered he was smuggling liquor while wearing a police uniform. Identified as Ravi Kishan, he was caught with 199 litres of foreign liquor in the Agamkuan police station area.
Acting on a tip-off, a special team from the Excise Department intercepted a white car near Kumhrar during a routine check. The driver, dressed in a police uniform, failed to produce any identification or official documents. A search of the vehicle led to the recovery of a large cache of foreign liquor.
Prem Prakash, commissioner of the Excise Department, confirmed that the suspect was pretending to be a sub-inspector. “We had received information that a person in uniform was transporting liquor. During the investigation, Ravi Kishan was found impersonating a police officer. He is currently being questioned,” he said.
Authorities have seized both the car and the liquor, and further legal action is underway.
