Nalanda: A shocking incident took place in Nalanda, Bihar, on Thursday night when four men fired gunshots inside a hotel after they were denied cigarettes. The firing happened around midnight at Bad New Dukhi Hotel near the 17th bus stop bypass in the Sohsarai police station area.
Ashish Kumar, the elder brother of the hotel operator, said the men entered the hotel and asked for cigarettes. When the staff refused, they argued and left. Soon after, the miscreants came back and fired three rounds in the air to threaten the hotel staff. The entire incident was captured on CCTV cameras installed in the hotel.
Surprisingly, a police van from the 112 service was parked just 100 metres away when the firing happened. However, the police did not take any action and remained silent spectators. Thankfully, no one was injured, but the hotel staff narrowly escaped the bullets.
Even after more than 12 hours of the incident, police from Sohsarai station had not reached the hotel to investigate. This has raised questions about the seriousness and vigilance of the local police, especially at a time when Bihar is trying to control rising crime.
