
Katihar: A property dealer was shot dead late Sunday night in Katihar district of Bihar. The incident happened around 11.30 pm near Chandrama Chowk under Mufassil police station area. The victim, Dheeraj Kumar, was returning home on his bike when unknown attackers fired five bullets at him. Dheeraj, aged 40, died on the spot after being shot. People nearby were shocked and scared hearing the gunshots and gathered at the place soon after.
Dheeraj was a resident of Ward No. 3 Chhitabari and worked in the tent and property dealing business. Police reached the spot quickly after getting information and sent his body to Sadar Hospital for postmortem. During their search, the police found four empty bullet shells and a liquor bottle at the crime scene. They suspect that the killers were drinking before carrying out the murder and that it was planned.
His death has caused deep sadness among his family members. Dheeraj was the youngest of three brothers. His father runs a grocery shop in the area. Dheeraj leaves behind a son and a daughter. Locals are angry over the killing and have demanded that police catch the culprits soon.
Police are now checking CCTV footage from the area to find clues about the attackers. ASP Abhijeet Kumar Singh said that they are investigating from all possible angles. He added that personal enmity or business rivalry could be the reasons behind the murder. The killing has created fear among people in the area and business community.
