Patna: A sex trafficking racket operating out of a rented house in the Patel Nagar area of Patna has been dismantled following a police raid late on Thursday night. Two individuals, including the alleged kingpin, have been arrested, and three women—one reportedly from West Bengal—have been rescued.
According to Secretariat DSP-2 Saket Kumar, the accused, Raj Kumar and Manju Devi, are currently in custody and being interrogated. A case has been registered in connection with the incident.
Police recovered a scanner and several objectionable items from the premises. Investigations suggest that clients were charged between Rs 2,000 and Rs 4,000, with payments often made through online transfers. Authorities noted that a scanner was kept at the location to facilitate these transactions.
During the probe, it was also revealed that photographs of the women were sent to potential clients via WhatsApp before transactions were finalised. The network is suspected to have ties with a similar operation in West Bengal.
The three women rescued during the raid are believed to be between 20 and 40 years old.
