Patna: The Central Administrative Tribunal (CAT) in Patna has issued a bailable arrest warrant against the Executive Director of AIIMS Patna in a contempt of court case. The tribunal has asked the police to bring the director before it on 25 July. This action was taken after Dr Neha Singh filed a contempt petition against AIIMS Patna.
Dr Singh works as a blood transfusion officer at AIIMS Patna. She had applied for the post of Assistant Professor but was not allowed to attend the interview. She then moved the tribunal, which ordered AIIMS to let her appear for the interview. However, the AIIMS administration ignored this order, forcing Dr Singh to file a contempt case. Even a show cause notice was not filed by the administration.
Earlier, the tribunal had ordered the AIIMS director to appear before it on 11 July. AIIMS challenged this in Patna High Court, but the High Court rejected their plea. Despite this, the director did not appear before the tribunal and instead informed that they would approach the Supreme Court. The tribunal noted that no stay order from the Supreme Court has been presented so far.
The tribunal said that not appearing on 11 July was a deliberate contempt of its order. It has now directed the police to ensure the director is present on 25 July for the next hearing in this case.
