Patna: The Bihar government has decided to connect all universities in the state to the Samarth Portal by 15 August. Education Minister Sunil Kumar announced this during a meeting of the Bihar Higher Education Council on Monday. He said that through this portal, all information about universities – from student admissions to income and expenditure – will be available in one place.
At present, only Purnia University is using the Samarth Portal properly. The Education Minister expressed his unhappiness over this and told other universities to work quickly. He said every activity of all universities should be visible on the portal so that there is transparency in their work. The State Project Director of the Higher Education Council has been asked to make sure this is done on time.
To make this happen, a special cell will be formed in the Bihar Higher Education Council to monitor the work and provide technical help to universities. The minister also asked that inspections of universities and colleges by NAAC should be done faster. For this too, a separate cell will be formed to monitor the inspection process.
Apart from this, the minister asked Patna University and Lalit Narayan Mithila University to improve their research work and become models for other universities. He also asked all higher educational institutions in Bihar to take part in the All India Higher Education Survey and to work towards increasing the number of students in higher education in the state.
