Patna: A new Amrit Bharat Express service is set to enhance railway connectivity in Bihar, with proposed routes between Patna and New Delhi, and Darbhanga and Gomtinagar (Lucknow), promising faster journeys and improved service.
According to officials from East Central Railway and ANE Railway, the Patna–New Delhi train is scheduled to depart from Patna Junction at 4.30pm. The train will feature 22 non-air-conditioned coaches with reserved sleeper class, and is expected to reduce travel time by at least 20% compared to existing services. It will have 18 scheduled stops en route to the capital.
Preparations are underway to launch the service, with Prime Minister Narendra Modi likely to inaugurate the train via video link from an election rally in Motihari on July 18. The final schedule will be released following clearance from the Railway Board.
A second Amrit Bharat train, connecting Darbhanga to Gomtinagar via Gorakhpur, is scheduled to leave Darbhanga at 3pm and reach its destination by 5am the next day, halting in Gorakhpur at around 11.25pm. On the return leg, the train will depart Gomtinagar at 8am and reach Darbhanga by 10pm, with a 1.50pm stop at Gorakhpur.
