New Delhi/Patna: Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) chief and Union Minister Chirag Paswan met with Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) National President JP Nadda in New Delhi on Thursday. Following the meeting, Chirag sharply criticized the Nitish Kumar-led government in Bihar, raising serious concerns about the state’s deteriorating law and order situation. He specifically questioned the functioning of the police and administration in the wake of the recent shootout at Paras Hospital in Patna and expressed alarm over the increasing incidents of murders and other criminal cases ahead of the upcoming Assembly elections.
In a tweet posted on Thursday evening, Chirag Paswan stated, “Law and order in Bihar has become a matter of serious concern. Murders are happening every day, the morale of the criminals is sky high. The working style of the police-administration is beyond comprehension.” He further added, “The incident of criminals firing openly inside Paras Hospital located in a residential area of ​​Patna is proof that the criminals are now directly challenging the law and administration. It is expected that the administration will soon take concrete and strict steps to bring law and order back on track.”
Nadda Meeting and Election Strategy
Chirag’s strong remarks came shortly before his meeting with the BJP President, which reportedly lasted for about half an hour at Nadda’s residence. According to television sources, the discussions between the two leaders likely touched upon the crucial issue of seat-sharing within the NDA in view of the impending Bihar Assembly elections. Chirag is also said to have conveyed his deep concern regarding the continuous rise in murders across the state.
Chirag Paswan’s Growing Focus on State Politics
Chirag Paswan appears to be increasingly shifting his political focus from the Centre to Bihar, actively preparing to contest the state’s assembly elections. He has been highly active in Bihar recently, holding rallies in key areas such as Ara, Rajgir, and Chapra. A public meeting in Munger is scheduled for July 19.
Concurrently, Chirag has maintained a consistent critical stance against the Nitish government. He recently questioned the state’s system following the murder of businessman Gopal Khemka in Patna and the tragic death of a rape victim in Muzaffarpur. This assertive posture from an NDA ally has reportedly caused unease within the Janata Dal (United) (JDU).
