Patna: Nishant Kumar, son of Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, celebrated his 44th birthday on Sunday with religious rituals and growing calls from supporters to enter politics. On Sunday morning, Nishant visited Mahavir Temple with his family and performed Rudrabhishek prayers, marking his birthday during the holy month of Sawan.
At the Janata Dal (United) state office in Patna, party workers gathered to cut a cake and distribute sweets in celebration. The office saw a festive atmosphere with slogans and birthday wishes, as many supporters demanded that Nishant step into active political life.
“Nishant ji should set a new dimension by entering politics. Everyone is waiting for him,” said one party worker, adding that it was time for Nishant to carry forward his father’s political legacy. Some urged Chief Minister Nitish Kumar to introduce his son into social and political life, while another supporter remarked that Nishant should continue the work that his father has done for Bihar and lead JDU.
Demands for Nishant to join politics have been raised by JDU leaders in the past as well. Gopalpur MLA Gopal Mandal had earlier warned that the party could weaken if Nishant does not step in. However, neither Nitish Kumar nor Nishant have made any official statement on his political future.
