East Champaran: A Janata Dal (United) leader in Bihar has received a death threat demanding Rs 10 lakh, triggering panic in East Champaran’s Dhaka area. The threat was reportedly issued by three local men who damaged the politician’s vehicle and left a note warning: “Give ten lakh rupees, otherwise we will shoot you.”
The incident took place in Lahan Dhaka under Dhaka Municipal Council. According to the complaint filed by JDU leader Shahbudin Farooqui, the accused attempted to break into his parked four-wheeler. When unsuccessful, they vandalised the car’s wipers and mirrors before leaving the threatening message.
Police have arrested two suspects, identified as Saif Islam and Shamsad, while a third, Aftab, is absconding. Dhaka Station House Officer (SHO) Rajrup Rai confirmed that an FIR has been registered and an investigation is underway. The arrested individuals have been remanded in judicial custody.
According to the FIR, the accused are known for criminal activities, including liquor and arms smuggling, and are alleged to use intimidation as part of their operations.
