Patna: In a major development in the Chandan Mishra murder case, the prime accused Tausif alias Badshah has confessed to his role and revealed a broader criminal conspiracy, police sources confirmed on Tuesday. Mishra, a convicted criminal, was shot dead at Patna’s Paras Hospital earlier this month.
Tausif, arrested and now in three-day police remand, reportedly admitted to orchestrating the killing along with eight others. According to investigators, the murder was contracted by Sheru Singh — a notorious gangster currently imprisoned in Purulia Jail, West Bengal. Tausif told police that each shooter was promised Rs 5 lakh for carrying out the murder, and the plan was finalised at an associate’s residence in Patna.
The accused initially remained silent under questioning but later began disclosing key details. He claimed that while accompanying his cousin Nishu for treatment at Paras Hospital, he familiarised himself with the premises and staff. This knowledge enabled him and others to enter the hospital without arousing suspicion.
Senior Superintendent of Police Kartikeya Sharma said that the incident appears to be part of an ongoing gang war. Based on Tausif’s disclosures, police are conducting raids to arrest the remaining accused. Authorities are also planning to bring another suspect, Balwant, into custody for a face-to-face interrogation with Tausif in an effort to uncover the entire network behind the murder.
In a parallel breakthrough, the bike used by the shooters on the day of the killing was recovered on Tuesday evening. It was found near Hathikhan turn in Danapur following information provided by another arrested accused, Abhishek. According to police, Abhishek used the same vehicle to flee the scene.
