Patna: The Bihar government has taken a big step towards clean energy by launching two new policies and signing agreements worth Rs 5,337 crore. These moves are aimed at producing 2,357 megawatts (MW) of renewable power through solar, wind, battery storage, and other green technologies.
The state government introduced the Bihar Renewable Energy Policy 2025 and the Pump Storage Policy 2025 at an event in Patna. These policies are designed to attract investment and make Bihar a hub for clean energy projects. Energy Minister Bijendra Prasad Yadav said the new policies will help cut pollution, create jobs, and ensure a better future for the next generation.
At the event, the government signed four major memorandums of understanding (MoUs) with energy companies. L&T will set up a battery storage project in Lakhisarai, while NTPC Green will build a 1,000 MW battery storage system. The Avaada Group will work on large-scale solar projects, and SECI Ltd will help develop floating solar systems. Together, these projects will bring big investments into the state’s energy sector.
To encourage companies to invest, the policies offer many benefits like tax cuts, faster clearances, and help with setting up projects. Officials said Bihar has the potential to meet a large part of its energy needs through renewable sources by 2030. Industry Minister Nitish Mishra also called on investors to visit Bihar and see the progress the state has made for themselves.
