Patna: NTPC Green Energy Ltd (NGEL), a part of the state-owned NTPC group, is planning to launch major renewable energy and battery storage projects in Bihar. This move is aimed at improving the state’s electricity supply and supporting India’s shift towards clean energy.
NGEL has submitted a proposal to the Bihar government asking for land to build solar power plants with battery energy storage systems (BESS). These systems will store extra electricity generated during the day and provide power at night or when demand is high, helping reduce power cuts and improve reliability.
The company is studying different locations across the state to set up these projects. It is working closely with government officials to speed up the planning. The solar parks will have different power capacities and will be built in areas with strong sunlight and good grid connectivity.
This project is part of India’s bigger goal of reaching 500 GW of clean energy by 2030. Bihar is expected to benefit greatly from this investment in terms of better power access and future job opportunities. NGEL is also looking at similar projects in other eastern states to expand its clean energy work.
