Patna: As part of the ongoing voter list revision in Bihar, special camps have been set up across Patna to assist residents with issues related to their voter IDs. On average, 20 to 25 people are arriving at these camps each day with various concerns, primarily to check the status of their names on the electoral roll.
Officials at the camps are helping citizens verify their voter IDs using EPIC numbers and are uploading documents for those unable to complete the process online. The initiative allows residents from all over Patna district to access assistance under one roof, with adequate seating and water arrangements to ensure convenience.
Forms are being distributed for new enrolments and corrections. Form 6 is available for new voters applying with essential documents, while Form 8 caters to residents from other states seeking to register in Bihar. Eleven supporting documents are required for these applications. A toll-free helpline, 1950, has been established to handle queries and complaints.
Booth Level Officers (BLOs) are operating camps daily from 10 am to 5 pm, even offering door-to-door services for elderly and differently-abled voters. A total of 5,665 BLOs and 527 supervisors have received special training for the revision exercise, supported by Booth Level Agents (BLAs), who may submit up to 30 forms daily with proper declaration.
To maintain transparency, electoral registration officers have been instructed to meet political parties weekly. Authorities have also cracked down on negligence: actions have been taken against 11 BLOs, including FIRs against 3, suspensions for 8 teachers, and dismissal of 3 staff members.
The final electoral roll is scheduled to be published on September 30, 2025. The District Magistrate has urged citizens to verify and update their voter information before the deadline.
