Patna: The Bihar Cabinet, led by Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, approved 36 proposals across various departments in a meeting held on Tuesday at the Chief Minister’s Secretariat. With all departmental ministers in attendance, the meeting comes at a time when the state government is stepping up its decision-making ahead of the upcoming Assembly elections.
Among the major decisions, the Cabinet gave the green light for setting up a Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes Bhimrao Ambedkar Residential School in Aurangabad. The Agriculture Department saw substantial administrative expansion, with approvals for 712 new posts and 178 instructor positions out of 534 sanctioned for computer education. Additionally, the Agriculture Subordinate Service Category Five Plant Protection Rules, 2025, were ratified.

The Cabinet also approved a proposal to double the honorarium for physical education teachers from Rs 8,000 to Rs 16,000. Increases were also sanctioned for cooks and night watchmen. Significant educational reforms included the approval of the Bihar State School Teacher Appointment and Transfer Service Rules and financial incentives linked to attendance at government and aided minority schools, including madrasas and high schools.
Further, 151 new teaching posts were sanctioned at Munger University, and the Bihar Urban Planning Scheme Rules, 2025, were approved.
