Patna: Police has recovered the body of an unidentified woman from the Son canal near Udaipur village in the Paliganj area of Patna district. The woman, believed to be around three months pregnant, had been shot twice in the head, according to the post-mortem report from Patna AIIMS.
In addition to gunshot wounds, the body bore multiple cuts and injury marks on the face, suggesting she may have been brutally assaulted before being killed. Police suspect the perpetrators dumped the body in the canal after the murder.
The investigation is being led by Paliganj’s officer-in-charge Vinay Kumar, who noted that the Son canal flows from Aurangabad through Arwal before reaching Patna district. Given the canal’s strong current and high water level at this time of year, investigators believe the crime may have occurred in either Arwal or Aurangabad district.
Police have reached out to stations across Patna, Arwal and Aurangabad in an effort to identify the victim. So far, no missing persons report matching her description has been filed.
