Patna: RJD leader and former deputy chief minister Tejashwi Yadav has made an emotional appeal to women in Bihar ahead of the 2025 Assembly elections. On the occasion of Rakshabandhan, he released a two-page open letter, asking them to consider him their brother and tie him a Rakhi.
In his letter, Yadav promised several schemes if his party comes to power. These include giving Rs 2,500 per month to women under the ‘Mai-Behan Yojana’, raising the social security pension to Rs 1,500 per month, subsidised gas cylinders for Rs 500, 200 units of free electricity, and free exam forms. He also spoke about setting up coaching centres for girls, providing world-class sports training, creating jobs and preventing exam paper leaks.
Yadav accused the Nitish Kumar government of doing “negative politics” and claimed his party had already prepared a complete plan to start these schemes after the elections. He said the 17-month grand alliance rule had shown that “nothing is impossible”.
The RJD leader also alleged a Rs 70,000 crore scam under the present government. He promised to recover the money and give it to the women of Bihar as a “Rakshabandhan shagun”. He said his focus would be on protecting women from unemployment, inflation, crime, poverty and corruption.
