Patna: Patna is expected to see cloudy skies and the possibility of light showers on Sunday, while Muzaffarpur has been forecast to receive rain over the next two days, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD).
The capital recorded a rise in temperatures on Saturday as rainfall activity subsided. The maximum temperature increased by 0.6C to reach 35.1C, while the minimum rose by 0.8C to 28.7C. The IMD has also issued a warning for thunderstorms, lightning and winds of 30–40 km/h in nine districts: West Champaran, East Champaran, Sitamarhi, Sheohar, Madhubani, Supaul, Araria, Purnia and Kishanganj.
Rainfall activity is expected to intensify again in the state from August 21. In the next two to three days, both maximum and minimum temperatures are predicted to climb by 2–3C.
In Muzaffarpur, forecasters expect light to moderate rain through the early part of the week, alongside high humidity levels. Scientists at the Rural Meteorological Centre in Pusa said the southwest monsoon is still active in the region, though weaker than last week. They warned that morning humidity could reach 100%, falling to 65–70% by afternoon, making conditions uncomfortable.
The district’s temperatures are forecast to range between 34C and 36C during the day and 27C to 29C at night. Easterly winds are likely to prevail until Tuesday, after which wind direction may change.
Over the past 48 hours, Muzaffarpur recorded a maximum of 34.5C and a minimum of 26.2C, marking an increase of 2.5C and 1.8C respectively. Humidity reached 100% in the mornings and 75% in the afternoons, with winds at 15 km/h adding to the muggy conditions.
