Patna: Police in Patna are investigating multiple cases of jewellery theft reported across the city in recent days, involving losses worth several lakh rupees.
In the first incident, retired station manager Vimlesh Kumar Sah, a resident of Gandhi Nagar Road No. 5, Rajiv Nagar, reported that jewellery valued at over Rs 15 lakh was stolen from his home while he was in Gurugram for his wife’s medical treatment. The culprits reportedly broke the lock of the main gate and cut the wires of the CCTV cameras, preventing identification. Police registered a case on August 18 and have been examining nearby CCTV footage, though no arrests have yet been made.
In a separate case, Deepak Kumar of Runnisaidpur, Sitamarhi, alleged that jewellery worth approximately Rs 10.49 lakh was stolen from a trolley in an auto-rickshaw. Kumar had travelled with his family on the Vande Bharat Express to Patliputra Junction and hired an auto to reach his destination. Two men, already in the auto, are said to have broken the trolley lock and taken the jewellery, after which the driver abandoned the family in Rajvanshi Nagar and fled.
Meanwhile, Preeti Raj, a resident of Anisabad in Gardanibagh, reported that jewellery and an ATM card valued at around Rs 3 lakh were stolen from her purse while she was travelling in an auto from Patna Junction. She discovered the theft after alighting at Sheikhpura turn.
