Patna: Patna’s JP Ganga Path is set to undergo a major transformation, aiming to become a prominent tourist destination. The project, named Ganga Kinare, will cover 13,500 square feet and feature over 15 arch gates highlighting the sacred river Ganga under different names such as Mandakini, Dev Nadi, Bhagirathi, Sursarita, and Jahnavi. Each gate, standing 25 feet high, will be constructed by artisans from Chennai.
Visitors will also be able to take selfies at a specially designed point alongside statues of Jayaprakash Narayan and Atal Bihari Vajpayee. In addition, 12-foot-high 3D murals of both leaders, made from GRC material by Delhi-based artisans, will be installed with their biographies displayed nearby.
The development extends 100 meters from Digha Golambhar and includes a food court with 500 shops, featuring a grand entrance showcasing its specialties. Under the Patna Smart City initiative, 10,000 trees will be planted across this area, complemented by decorative lighting including facade lights, post lights, highlighters, and garden lights. Flooring will be laid over 8,000 square feet using limestone sourced from Rajasthan.
The total cost of the JP Ganga Path beautification and development project is Rs 52.81 crore.
