Patna: A serious criminal case has emerged from the Paliganj area of Patna, Bihar, where Suresh Kashyap, the operator of the historic Ramjanaki Math, was arrested on charges of committing sexual offences against two minor girls. The incident took place on August 21 when the girls were playing near the monastery and were lured inside by Suresh.
According to the complaint filed by the mother of the victims, Suresh showed pornographic videos to the girls and attempted inappropriate behaviour. When the families protested, he allegedly used casteist slurs and threatened them.
A case has been registered under sections 65(2) and 351(2) of the Indian Penal Code 2023, the POCSO Act sections 4 and 8, and section 3(2)(v) of the Scheduled Castes and Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act. Investigations revealed that Kashyap has a prior criminal history, including cases under the Arms Act.
The incident has sparked anger and fear among local residents, with many expressing concern about child safety and the sanctity of religious institutions. Paliganj police acted swiftly, arresting Suresh and sending him to judicial custody. The West City SP, Bhanu Pratap Singh, confirmed that the police are intensifying the investigation to ensure justice for the victims and to determine if Suresh has committed similar offences in the past.
