Banka: The spread of dengue in Bihar is increasing. After Patna, Banka district has now reported three cases of the mosquito-borne disease. The health department has issued an alert and directed hospitals to prepare special wards for patients.
The first patient is Nitish Kumar Yadav from Ranganiya village, who had returned from Noida. His platelet count had dropped to 64,000 but improved after treatment. The second patient, Rupesh Kumar from Patwara village, was studying in Patna and tested positive after returning home. The third case is from Domuhan, where a young man working in Kolkata was found infected. All three patients are now stable.
Doctors say the risk of dengue increases during the rainy season and changing weather. Aedes mosquitoes breed in stagnant water found in coolers, drains and containers near houses. High fever, body pain, headache, vomiting, dizziness and low platelets are common symptoms. Experts advise people to seek medical help quickly instead of self-medicating.
A special ward for dengue patients has been set up in Banka Sadar Hospital with mosquito nets and treatment facilities. The health department has appealed to residents not to allow water to collect around their homes and to remain alert to prevent further spread of the disease.
