Patna: Patna will see the launch of several infrastructure projects on Monday as Bihar chief minister Nitish Kumar inaugurates the construction of a new four-lane road and other urban developments aimed at easing traffic and improving connectivity.
The four-lane road, to be built from Patel Golambar to Atal Path in the state capital, will include an underground drainage system along the Mandiri drain. The project, estimated at Rs 196.8 crore, is expected to reduce congestion and provide smoother travel for commuters.
A separate connecting road linking the Mandiri Nala project to the JP Ganga Path will also be constructed at a cost of Rs 52.28 crore. Officials said the new link would ease vehicle movement across the city.
In addition to these works, the government will invest Rs 59.68 crore to build Patna Haat and a parking facility to strengthen access to the Civilisation Gate. Kumar is also scheduled to lay the foundation stone for the renovation of hostels at universities and colleges across Patna.
Another key project on the agenda is the JP Ganga Path Samagra Udyan (Phase 1), a 7km stretch of green development along both sides of JP Ganga Path from Digha to Gandhi Maidan, with an estimated cost of Rs 387.4 crore.
State officials said the projects form part of a wider push to expand Bihar’s road network and improve urban infrastructure. “A large number of people will benefit from these works, which are designed to reduce traffic jams and improve connectivity within the city,” a senior official said.
