Patna: Bihar chief minister Samrat Choudhary has directed officials to prepare a comprehensive plan for the development of airports across all 38 districts, alongside proposals to build “aerocities” featuring hotels, commercial hubs and logistics infrastructure near major airports.

The directive was issued during a review meeting involving the departments of civil aviation, urban development and housing, and information and public relations.

Push For Urban Expansion And Digitisation

Choudhary instructed officials to accelerate work on the state’s long-term urban expansion strategy, emphasising the need to digitise city maps related to sanitation, traffic management and urban growth.

He said these maps should be made publicly accessible to improve transparency and planning.

Aerocity Model Around Airports

The chief minister outlined plans to develop aerocities around key airports, integrating commercial complexes, hotels, logistics parks and tourism infrastructure.

Officials said the initiative aims to strengthen air connectivity while boosting economic activity around aviation hubs, including smaller and regional airports.

Focus On Tourism And Branding

Choudhary also directed officials to identify district-level cultural heritage sites and improve the dissemination of information for tourists.

He stressed the need for better national-level branding of Bihar’s achievements and attractions, and called for the use of artificial intelligence tools for real-time monitoring of development projects.

Departmental Updates

Senior officials presented updates during the meeting. Vinay Kumar, principal secretary of the urban development department, outlined plans for 11 satellite and greenfield townships.

Nilesh Ramchandra Devare, secretary of the civil aviation department, said efforts are underway to expand international flight operations from Patna and Gaya.

Anupam Kumar, secretary of the information and public relations department, said awareness campaigns on government schemes are being strengthened through multiple communication channels.

Senior Officials Present

The meeting was attended by senior officials including Pratyaya Amrit, chief secretary; Mihir Kumar Singh, development commissioner; and other members of the chief minister’s office.

Officials said the combined focus on infrastructure, connectivity and digital governance is aimed at accelerating Bihar’s urban transformation and improving regional accessibility.
