Patna: Patna is set to receive a new suspension bridge modelled on Uttarakhand’s famous Laxman Jhula, with construction approved by the CM Nitish Kumar-led state cabinet.
The bridge will be built across the Punpun river, close to the traditional Pinddaan site and adjacent to the existing railway bridge. According to the government, the project has been granted administrative clearance and will cost nearly Rs 83 crore.
Spanning 320 metres in length and 11.5 metres in width, the bridge will include approach roads of 115 metres on both sides. Officials say the structure is designed to make the journey for devotees performing Pinddaan rituals easier and safer, while also serving local commuters.
The suspension bridge is expected to become a significant landmark in the area, with pedestrian and light vehicle access, potential use in rescue operations, and added appeal for visitors. Authorities believe it will draw devotees, tourists and photography enthusiasts, boosting local businesses, hotels and markets.
