Hajipur: The East Central Railway has announced the operation of two Puja special trains from Monday to handle the anticipated surge of passengers during the festival season.
One train will run between Buxar and Kiul, while the other will operate between Danapur and Jhajha. Both services will run six days a week, excluding Sundays, from August 25 until November 29.
Train No. 03208 Buxar–Kiul Puja Special will depart Buxar at 5.40am and reach Kiul at 11.35am, stopping at Ara, Patna, Bakhtiyarpur, Mokama and several intermediate stations. The return service, Train No. 03207, will leave Kiul at 2.40pm and arrive in Buxar at 8.35pm.
Train No. 03209 Jhajha–Danapur Puja Special will leave Jhajha at 4am and arrive in Danapur at 8.40am, halting at Kiul, Mokama, Bakhtiyarpur, Fatuha and Patna Junction among other stations. The return service, Train No. 03210, will depart Danapur at 5.25pm and reach Jhajha at 10pm.
Both trains will consist of 20 coaches, including 18 general class and two SLR coaches.
The railway authorities said the move is aimed at easing festival travel pressure across Bihar, particularly along routes that see heavy demand during Durga Puja and Diwali.
