Patna: The Bihar State Road Transport Corporation (BSRTC) has announced that special inter-state bus services will start from 20 September for the festive season. These buses will run till 30 November and connect Bihar with Delhi, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh and West Bengal. The step has been taken to make travel easier during Durga Puja, Diwali and Chhath when passenger rush is very high.
According to BSRTC administrator Atul Verma, all drivers and conductors will be given special training in September so that passengers get safe and reliable services. Online booking for seats will begin from 1 September, while passengers without bookings can buy tickets directly from e-ticketing machines inside the buses. Ticket prices will also be kept affordable.
The corporation has made it compulsory to display the BSRTC logo on every bus along with details of fares and discounts. Two drivers will be required on long routes such as Delhi and Haryana. Officials have warned that charging extra fares will be treated as a punishable offence.
Strict rules will also apply to safety. Carrying or drinking alcohol in buses is completely banned under state law. Drivers must carry all valid documents including tax papers, insurance, permits and pollution certificates. They will also have to follow speed limits. BSRTC said these steps will ensure passengers travel comfortably and safely during the festive rush.
